Changes in Skating Schedule for May 23rd - Seniors, Juniors, Advanced CanSkaters

Occasionally, despite our best efforts in planning, our scheduled ice gets cancelled or changed by Centennial Arena. In this case: the Arena is cancelling our icetime on Wednesday May 23rd, from 6 - 8pm, which affects our seniors, juniors, and Advanced Canskater sessions for that day.

For our seniors: Centennial Arena is offering a replacement day and time as follows: Friday May 11th, 8:05AM - 9:55AM.

It is understood that this Friday is a PD day in the public school system within HRSB, so it is hoped that skaters are able to take advantage of the switch in the day and time. There is an extra 20 minutes of training time allotted in the replacement booking.

For our Juniors & Advanced Canskaters: a revised session will run from 4:55 to 5:55 only on that day (23rd).  Both Junior and Adv CS skaters will skate together during that hour.

Please note, this time change is for Wednesday May 23rd only, and does not affect sessions on Wed May 9th or May 16th - those sessions will run at their regularly scheduled times.

"Summer 2012" Skating Program Announcement

"Summer 2012" will run programs for skaters from July 2nd to August 18th, 2012 at the Halifax Civic Centre. Applications for Pre-Juniors / Juniors / Intermediates / Seniors are all now available by clicking on the links below.

Please note: “Summer 2012” is working in conjunction with the Figure Skating Academy of Nova Scotia (See www.skatecanada.ns.ca) to ensure that all skaters that do not qualify for the Academy will have a place to skate at the “Summer 2012” program. Session times offered by “Summer 2012” will complement the Academy’s schedule.

Annual General Meeting

The Halifax Skating Club will hold its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 6:30 pm, in the Boardroom of Centennial Arena at 27 Vimy Avenue, Halifax. Everyone is encouraged to attend!

Along with reports and awards, we will be electing/re-electing members to the Board. If you are interested in volunteering as a Board member, please see the attached list of Board positions and roles.Please note: All Board positions will be reviewed in the coming months, so there may be flexibility in some roles and repsonsibilities.
